When you first put new strings on a guitar and tune them, do not be surprised if they don't stay in tune. They need to get used to the tightness that is part of the process. It may take a few days or a week for them to finally settle down. It is usually wise to replace strings a week before playing for an audience.
Ball end strings are easier to put on than other. The others require tying a form of knot to keep one end in place.
Sometime strings, once set, will remain set for months. Other times they may last only a few days. It's wise to always have an extra set of strings available.
Experiment as you buy strings with different manufacturers and thickness. They produce different types of sounds and a different feel when playing. It's part of the fun of guitar, discovering your favorite strings. They all work but you'll find your own preferences. |
